I was going to post this in the "Jaws authorization problem" thread that someone else started, but I'm not experiencing any Jaws problems. I have 3 questions about Jaws authorizations.
1. My computer at work has an authorized copy of Jaws. I will hopefully soon be receiving a new computer for the office. If the Jaws authorization for the work computer is removed, will the seat count go up by 1? This probably sounds like a silly question, but I don't know.
2. What is the best way to remove the authorization? Should the "remove authorization" menu item in Jaws be selected? Or simply uninstall Jaws and all components?
3. If someday my seat count goes to 0, can I get three new Jaws authorizations?
I would appreciate any feedback.
1. Once an authorization is used up, I don't think you can get it back.
2. You shouldn't have to remove that copy of jaws off the old computer, unless you want to.
3. Go to www.fsactivate.com, provide your Jaws serial number and e-mail, and they should reset your authorization counts.
Someone can correct me on any of these if I'm wrong.
To clarify, by "seat" I am referring to the number of Jaws licenses (lockin codes) remaining. FS itself uses the term "seats" on the fsactivate site. I know my activation count can be reset, but I'm not sure about seat count.
I'm still looking for anyone's feedback on my three questions. I would think that removing the authorization lockin code would change the number of available seats. But, I don't know for sure.
in truth, the only thing they really keep track of is the count of authorizations that you use, which you can get reset upon request. And the above is correct that if you remove an authorization on a comp, it doesn't affect the count as far as FS is concerned. It's used, it's used.
